MISSION STATEMENT

The Chicago Local Group facilitates discussions regarding human rights abuses and works to motivate people to take action and support Amnesty International’s mission.  As the founder of AI, Peter Benenson, said 50 years ago:

            “It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness.”

The Chicago LG helps to shine Amnesty’s light on human rights abuses in Chicago and around the world.  Our focus is primarily on outreach, spreading Amnesty’s message and growing the movement.  As activists, our challenge is to expand awareness about human rights and to initiate change within our own communities.  If you’re not already participating, please join us!  We would be ecstatic to celebrate our human rights movement with you and together we can make the world a little better!
